The school Easter Holidays start on 1st April. The Challenge Cup Final was on 3rd April. Guess what? That's right, I was on holiday and couldn't make the final. Could Queens get their season back on track in my absence and set us up for a strong finish to the season?

Queens were enjoying a new Manager bounce back as we went into March with a Challenge Cup Semi-final to look forward to. Could Willie Gibson maintain the momentum and pull Queens away from the bottom of the league?

Having got back into regularly attending Palmerston, I was about to have another short break as a new variant of COVID, Omicron, threw the country back into lockdown and led to Queens having to cancel a couple of games due to their own COVID outbreak.

It wasn't until I started writing this Season Review that I realised how few times I'd been to Palmerston in the early part of the season. October was when I started going back regularly (until another Omicron break!) as Queens tried to pull away from the bottom of the table.

On 7th August, 2021, I finally felt ready to return to Palmerston for the first time since 29th February 2020, for the visit of Championship favourites, Kilmarnock. There were still a lot of COVID restrictions in place, which had me wondering how I'd feel about it, but I actually quite enjoyed the experience, despite the result.

For the first time since 29th February, 2020, (officially, not counting 26/12/2020) fans were allowed back in the ground for Queens first competitive fixture of the season, a League Cup game against Queens Park. For reasons I explain here, I still wasn't ready to join them, so in this section I'll cover those first few games that I wasn't at!

For the 2nd (or was it the 3rd?) season in succession, it was an almost entirely new Queens' squad which was to kick off the 2021/2022 season. While things would get back to a bit more normality near the end, it was another season which would be affected by the COVID pandemic.
